"Leadership is not so much about technique and
methods as it is about opening the heart. Leadership is about
inspiration—of oneself and of others. Great leadership is about
human experiences, not processes. Leadership is not a formula or a
program, it is a human activity that comes from the heart and
considers the hearts of others. It is an attitude, not a routine"

Employee Engagement |
|
|
Employee engagement is the ‘ultimate prize’ for employers - Towers Perrin (2003) Employee engagement embraces employee satisfaction, commitment, motivation, the
job itself, customer focus, quality and empowerment.
Engaged employees give you
their discretionary effort and their intention to stay.
The results have been proved time and again (10 years of employee satisfaction
surveys 1996-2006, Fortune 50 company).
To create employee engagement:
Investing in Employee development = 2 x the impact of pay and
benefits
Investing in Employee Development = 4 x the impact of reward and
recognition programs.
Investing in Employee Development = Employee Engagement = Discretionary
effort and intent to stay |
Pay and benefits may be important in attracting and retaining people, but
engaging employees requires a continuous effort to develop and maintain an
enriching work experience in which the employee feels valued and involved.
Employee engagement is about employees who want to stay with you and employees
who want to give you and your company their discretionary commitment to go that
bit further, to sell one more product or help one more customer… ‘the
willingness and ability to contribute to company success, through putting in
extra time, brainpower and energy into their work’ - Towers Perrin (2003)
Global human resources firm, Hewitt Associates, has data showing the strongest
link yet between engaged employees and business success. Analysis of 1,500
companies over a seven-year period showed that higher engagement levels had
markedly higher total shareholder return. Companies with between 60% and
100% engagement achieved an average return of 24.%, whereas those with lower
engagement had lower return at 9.%. When engagement is below 25%, those
companies suffer a negative total shareholder return.

How do we help you build engagement |
|
Investment in personal development with NoLimits learning and development drives
engagement
The benefits are three-fold:
|
INCREASED SHAREHOLDER RETURNS |
|
Organisational Benefits
- Higher profitability and productivity from
discretionary effort
- Retained Knowledge
- Longer retention
- Lower attrition
|
|
The Employee
- Application of discretionary effort
- Personal growth
- More committed employees
|
|
The Customer
- Highly satisfied customers
- Repeat business and retained customers
- More committed customers as business advocates
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
For the individual, the benefits of employee engagement are ‘energy, mental
resilience, self-significance, personal fulfilment and a sense of well-being
that can lead to both greater job and life satisfaction as well as higher
performance ratings’ - Harter et al. (2002); Jones and Harter (2005).
The engaged employee ‘looks for and is given opportunities to improve
organisational performance, is positive about the job and the organisation,
works actively to make things better, treats others with respect, and helps
colleagues to perform more effectively, can be relied upon and goes beyond the
requirements of the job, sees the bigger picture even at personal cost,
identifies with the organisation, keeps up to date with developments in his/her
field’ - IES (2004)
The following are important aspects of any engagement program. Towers Perrin
(2003 and 2004); IES (2004)
-
Enable senior management to understand the nature of employee engagement and
to communicate a vision for future success
-
Understand employee perceptions and measure engagement
-
Invest in leadership and management development and establish clear behavioural expectations
-
Give employees and much job challenge as possible
-
Provide a strong development focus linked to opportunities for advancement
-
Increase involvement and two way communication
-
Develop effective internal co-operation models
Achieving engagement is about cultural change. The components that matter fall
into three categories: Leadership, Talent, Teamwork and form a culture focused
on employee development driving employee engagement. |
|
 |
| To support your
cultural enhancement, NoLimits will: |
 |
Provide employee engagement and
cultural change programs for senior leaders |
 |
Develop a tailored curriculum of
leadership tools and models and deploy this to your organisation |
 |
Deploy a culture of compelling
leadership development |
 |
Create a coaching environment for
performance enhancement and individual growth |
 |
Help your managers increase the
flexibility of their leadership styles |
 |
Professionalism, visibility and
presence in your managers and leaders |
 |
A talent management framework to provide
for employee development planning, performance monitoring, and clear
talent differentiation aligning talent with critical roles |
 |
Work with your teams to drive behavioral
change improving communication co-operation and performance |
 |
Support change management activities,
helping your leaders and employees through the challenges and effects of
the change curve |
|
|
These approaches must be embedded in leadership behaviors'. The real underlying
key is to generate a positive spiral of increasing employee engagement and
manager effectiveness.
|
|
The sum of all parts
The sum of all your parts and the organisation’s parts is far greater and more
significant than an individual part. That is why we focus your learning in an
all rounded approach. The biggest asset of any organisation is its people. It
takes more than one person to make an organisation successful. It takes more
than the top 10% of the organisation to make a difference. It takes every single
person who works with your organisation to make a significant difference and to
make that organisation truly successful. That is why our approach encourages and
gives individuals the tools and techniques to be leaders. If you cannot lead
yourself, you will not be able to lead others. |
|
You have the resources
We all have the resources to do much better, we are all born with the ability to
learn. Our approach is to give you continuous learning by doing and experiencing
firsthand how you can make positive changes, we not only offer you ongoing
learning and development programs, we also offer personalised coaching that
sustains your learning and motivates you to be who you aspire to be and to do
much better. Haven’t we all said to ourselves ‘if only I knew then what I know
now’? We have a natural and innate capacity to learn. The more you learn, the
more information you have.
The more information you have, the more likely you
are to make better decisions.
Personal and Professional Development Go Hand in Hand
Have you ever tried to run a wheel that is half missing, partly missing or is
slightly flat? This will not result in a successful and smooth running journey.
Similarly for you to be truly fulfilled at what you do, a combination of both
personal and professional growth is the best recipe for success. Truly fulfilled
employees leads to a highly successful organisation.
The NoLimits approach is
guaranteed to ‘inflate’ you with the motivation, confidence and commitment to do
better. We also offer you a smooth and exciting journey of self discovery and
development, resulting in you gaining greater insights about yourself and others
who interact and work with you, enabling you to be far more successful at what
you want to be and do.

The
Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument (TKI)
Learn Your Conflict Management Style
Conflict is often seen as negative, yet it can lead to great change and
improvement. Learning when your conflict management style is appropriate and
adding new styles to your abilities will give you the edge you’ve been missing
up until now. Most of us prefer one style; learning other styles will increase
your effectiveness and ability to work well with others. Learn how the TKI
assessment tool can help you improve your conflict resolution skills.
What styles do your colleagues use?
The TKI assessment tool gives each person a report on the 5 conflict styles
or modes. Each mode is appropriate in different situations; each is effective at
different times. Learn which mode is your primary and when to use it for best
results. Discover how to use your less preferred modes for conflict resolution
in work, family, and social gatherings. Test each person in your group to learn
how you can all get along better.
Conflict is unavoidable
Yes, it's human nature. We even have conflict within ourselves, without any
outside interference. Given that we have to live with conflict, how can we adapt
and adjust to make the process go more smoothly and create a positive end
result? We can take our results from the TKI to learn new conflict resolution
skills. Frequently, our emotions and desires can make communication difficult.
Use the TKI to learn what others are doing in those situations and learn to
understand your own behavior during tense moments. You can master these
challenges with knowledge and practice.
For best results, test your whole group. You'll then have the
tools in hand to begin a conflict resolution training session, retreat, or
workshop. The TKI is also an excellent tool for conflict resolution when 2 or
more individuals are having trouble working together. The information from the
reports can be used to begin a constructive dialogue, as a place to start
discussion, eliminating blame.

Parker Team Player
The Parker Team Player Program offers an all-inclusive package of
materials to help achieve extraordinary results through teams. Versatile and
easy-to-use, the Parker self-assessment helps individuals identify their
preferred team player style—contributor, collaborator, communicator, or
challenger—and discover the role they can play to maximize their contribution to
overall team performance.
Help team members discover how they can improve their interpersonal
effectiveness and support, challenge, and inspire their fellow team members to
produce outstanding results. The NoLimits team use the comprehensive Parker Team
Player Program to jump-start teambuilding and team development efforts.
360 degree feedback
360° feedback involves a range of people (manager, direct reports, peers,
customers etc) being invited to rate or comment on key behaviours and attributes
of a particular person. This is usually done using specially constructed
competency questionnaires. Ratings and comments are therefore about specific
behaviour rather than general impressions.
In comparison with conventional appraisal techniques, 360° feedback has the
advantage of providing a much more rounded picture of how an individual is
perceived by those with whom he or she comes into contact.
Nolimits utilises a web-based 360° feedback system, for minimum
administration, to provide a detailed report to the individual, helping him or
her see how each aspect of his or her behaviour and performance is viewed by
different people and how the perceptions of others differ from his or her own
perceptions.
In addition to presenting extensive details information in graphical and
tabular formats, our reports provide the person with a clear guide in relation
to those areas in which he or she should concentrate further developmental
efforts in order to improve work performance in each competency area. We offer
post test coaching to enable the individual to operationalise their personal
development and achieve substantial lasting changes in behaviour. Follow-up
feedback is used to monitor ongoing progress.
Work-Life Balance Activities
Our NoLimits Work-Life Balance Implementation team identifies
resources and policies that your staff and HR teams can use in finding and
deploying programs to balance responsibilities and interests at work with lives
outside of work, promoting a family-friendly work environment, and implementing
flexible and creative ways to aid in the recruitment and retention of talented
employees. Our team also recommends improvements in services and future planning
priorities.
Having identified existing resources and policies that support diverse life
styles, interests and family needs, an implementation program is developed. The
intent of the program is to support the cultural development of a work-life
balance across the whole corporation that increases employee engagement, driving
talent retention, attracting top-talent and increasing motivation and
discretionary effort. A properly implemented work-life balance program will
ensure increased motivation and efficiency and improved business results.
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)
NLP is a set of simple, yet highly effective, tools and techniques that help us
produce excellence in what we do. It has its roots in psychology and the study of excellence. It was born 30
years ago from the work of Richard Bandler (a mathematician) and John Grinder (a
linguist), who studied some of the world’s greatest communicators.
Their research identified not only the elements that defined effectiveness,

Talent Management |
|
|
What is the greatest resource of any business?
Talent is as much created as inherent in the individual
“A baby has the full potential to acquire any talent and yet it has none”
Greater emphasis on development will motivate most people to become stars in
their own field
“The customary way in which companies try to identify talent destroys a lot of
untapped potential”
The more effective the people the more successful the business will be.
What’s happening to your talent?
Competition for top talent is on the increase
Employees don’t leave companies, they leave bosses
Execution - match the right people with the right opportunities
-
Double Digit growth is about execution: getting the right people doing
the right things to manage a portfolio of separate, clear and achievable
growth strategies.

Managing Talent drives improved performance
There is an increasing war for talent.
Organisation’s that manage talent achieve two outstanding benefits:

Team
Building |
|
|
Team building is about Team Excellence. It is
those efforts in which a team studies its own process of working together and
acts to create a climate that encourages and values the contributions of team
members. Their energies are directed toward problem solving, task effectiveness,
and maximizing the use of all members' resources to achieve the team's purpose.
Great team building recognizes that it is not possible to fully separate one's
performance from those of others. Powerful teams of people working
collaboratively and towards organisational goals are critical for organisational
success.
We can provide you with in-house, tailored programs and team effectiveness
workshops that address the needs of your teams.
These programs build on core coaching skills for leaders, talent management and
employee engagement programs and use the latest team and individual profiling
tools to encourage mutual understanding.
What does true Team Excellence look like?
-
Team goals are developed through a group process
of interaction and agreement. Each team member is willing to work toward
achieving these goals
-
Participation is active by all and roles are shared to
facilitate the accomplishment of tasks and generate a feeling of unity
-
Feedback is actively sought by team members and freely
given, focused on evaluating the team's performance and clarifying both
feelings and interests of the team members. All feedback is ‘feed-forward’
based on a desire to help the other person
-
Team decision making involves a process that encourages
active participation by all members
-
Leadership is distributed and shared among team members
and individuals willingly contribute their resources as needed
-
Problem solving, discussing team issues, and critiquing
team effectiveness are encouraged by all team members
-
Conflict is never suppressed. Team members are allowed to
express negative feelings and confrontation within the team which is managed
and dealt with by the team. Dealing with and managing conflict is seen as a
way to improve team performance
-
Team member resources, talents, skills, knowledge, and
experiences are fully identified, recognised, and used whenever appropriate
-
Risk taking and creativity are encouraged. When mistakes
are made, they are celebrated as a source of learning rather than reasons
for punishment
This is your check list to evaluate your level of team
excellence.
We help achieve this excellence leveraging established best practices and
working with you to support cultural change in all of the above areas with our
high impact team learning techniques. We also include the use of Myers-Briggs (MBTI)
profiles, conflict resolution with Thomas Kilman, and role clarification with
Parker Team Player. 360 Degree Feedback can also be used for the team as a whole
and individually for team leaders, to provide effective actionable feedback and
establish metrics to measure behavioural and performance improvement.
Please contact: for more information. Alternatively we offer
open-enrolment programs where CEOs, Functional Heads, Departmental Managers and
Team Leaders can learn about influencing and leading their teams to achieve
positive results.

of tools and techniques into your existing leadership curriculum and talent
development programs. |

“One day you are one of the workers, the next you
are the boss. Before being a leader, success is all about growing
yourself. When you become a leader, success is all about growing
others”
